Maximuscle Cyclone Review
In general, I am not an advocate of Maximuscle products. Undeniably,
they work. And yes, if the label is to be believed, the ingredients
within are of a high quality. My major problem resides in the fact that most Maximuscle
product's effects can be achieved through a different brand at a
fraction of the price. Hence, I was a little sceptical upon receiving my
brand-spanking-new, shrink wrapped tub of Maximuscle Cyclone.
As usual, the presentation was impressive and with a name like "Cyclone" it's hard not
to be 'sucked in'. Excuse the pun. My first concern was the fact that Cyclone is
billed as an "all-in-one" formula, meaning that it has elements of muscle-building
supplements as well as a blend of carbohydrates and creatine, which work in unison to force the
creatine into the muscles.
Anyone who has ever tried taking protein along with a separate course of creatine
monohydrate will know that it soon becomes an organisational nightmare--loading periods,
rest periods; six doses a day, etcetera etcetera. I found it a little hard to believe
that the folks over at Maximuscle had perfected a balance of protein, creatine and
carbohydrate that requires no loading period and still provides the training benefits of all three.
Before I document my experience with this particular product, let's see the technical data:
Servings Per Day: 2
Typical Serving Per 1.5 scoops: (60g)
Energy: 230kcal/962kJ
Protein: 30g
Carbohydrate: 21g
Total Fats (includes MCTs & EFAs): 4.68g
Before I go into too much detail, I feel inclined to inform you that this is far
and away the most effective supplement I've ever had the pleasure of using.
Within a fortnight I noticed a significant strength and stamina increase, and
the protein doses are sufficient to recover from all but the most intense
workout within a day or two. I must admit I'm not a massive fan of creatine as a whole,
due to the risk of over/under-dosing which can both lead to their own problems.
When taken as part of a blend, and especially with the creatine-forcing carbohydrates
found in Cyclone, I was on the receiving end of a serious boost during my workout
(the strength benefits also did wonders for my motivation). So, how does it taste?
Well, frankly, terrible in comparison with regular protein supplements. You can improve
it slightly if you mix with milk instead of water, but I would suggest that you'll reap
the rewards sooner if you stick to water only.
There's some difficulty involved with mixing the drink unless you have a blender, and
occasionally a granule of...something...touched my tongue that I can only describe as
tasting like the antiseptic preparation "TCP" (those who have had need of a TCP mouthwash
in the past will know how unpleasant an experience this is). Overall, I genuinely recommend
that all serious gym users try this product at least once. I can't stress enough how good
it feels to be taking a supplement that supplies such immediate results. However, if
it's a milkshake you're after, go to McDonald's.
